    What started out as a plan for a few friends to attend the “Taste of Cambridge” festival, became a small armada when as many as 42 boats signed up for a trip to the Hyatt River Marsh Marina in Cambridge, MD, this weekend from July 9th -12th.

    One Big Bowl of Soup Brewing in the Gulf

    For weeks, we have watched and read the news accounts about the oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico from a broken pipe nearly a mile below the surface.

    But in a strange – almost surreal – way, the potential impact of 200,000 gallons of oil spilling into the Gulf daily didn’t seem as threatening. The oil was drifting offshore, far from where we could see it, and away from the marshes that provide sustenance and life for plants and animals, and some protection from tidal encroachment.

    A New kind of Jelly Candy

    This is the Giant Jellyfish that sank a Japanese fishing vessel. It’s more than six feet across and weighs 450 pounds. But did you know the Japanese are figuring out new and exciting ways use the blob?  The latest word is that the Jelly fish will be used to make a delicious caramel that’s going to be shipped into space with the astronauts. Maybe we should work on getting a supply to pack for those long cruises across the great lakes, up and down the Chesapeake Bay, or wherever brave boaters go. Let us know
