I look forward to fall because there are a ton of quiet places to cruise to and enjoy. All the in season only boaters are gone so no traffic jams.  Sailors are out but they’re a peaceful bunch.

Someone give up some great fall cruising places.  I would love to hear the stories or look them up on a map.  Who knows, maybe I’ll be in your neck of the woods.

Fall cruises are great although for me not very adventures but I boat on a closed lake and the are only so much for you to see, however because we are in the southern part of the country we boat year round and as BayBay’s kid said there is not a lot of traffic and we sometimes seem to have the lake all to ourself..Which for me and my wife can have the makings of a very romantic morning, afternoon or evening which ever we chose… wink

Hi Folks, The annual fall destination for us is Catalina Island. Each year we make the cruise to attend the third weekend of the annual JAZZTRAX festival. Check out the website for info jazztrax.com.  I plan to leave about 0500 hrs on the 15th (wed) and will arrive at about 1500. We look forward to this fall trip every year. This will be our 7th year and we have the same seats each year. Also check out the catalina site (visitcatalinaisland.com)for the web cam. Later, Bill

Bill, Send pictures. You too Big Fifty.  We can get them posted in the blog on the Inland Boater site. I got two posted and I’m sending two more today.  Don’t have me be the only one.

I was out on the boat on Tuesday. Like Big Fifty said. It’s just what you need for romance. A bottle of wine and a gentle fall breeze. Trees changing colors and no one around. Man this is heaven. Wednesday and Thursday it rained. Even then though, cabin life is nice!!

Catalina Island trip went well. Experienced good weather both ways. Jazz fest was great. Sunday night George Duke closed the show. Took me back to the 70s. Averaged 8.5 knots each way. 10 hours each way. Seas were so calm coming back to San Diego we got a chance to watch direct tv while under way. I am still having problems with posting my photos. Don’t know what I am doing wrong. Will be back to the boat early November and will be anchoring out in Mission Bay with some dock buddies for a few nights. If you have not done so already, check out these desitinations online. Nice boating spots.  Are you guys still in the water? Bill

Hey Bill,

I’m still in the water. We’re doing Indian Summer here in the Mid Atlantic, so we’re getting 70’s and having fun.  I’ll probably winterize in November.

Send some pictures to . They’ll post them in the editors blog along with your forum post explaining the cruise.  I did it and so did another reader. Check it out.  My photos are at:

On the front page at inlandboater.com there’s a link to the editor’s blog on the upper left. You can see the rother reader’s photo there too. Big fifty said he’s going to send some in this week too.
